The Organization for Competitive Markets (OCM) and Competitive Markets Action (CMA) have launched a $100,000 ad campaign to fight the imminent reintroduction of the Ending Agriculture Trade Suppression (EATS) Act. Previously led by Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA) and Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS), this legislation threatens states' rights and family farms by eliminating state agricultural laws. The campaign highlights the growing concerns about foreign ownership of U.S. farmland, particularly by Chinese interests.
Statement on the Confirmation of Brooke Rollins as Secretary of Agriculture

As USDA Secretary Confirmation Hearing is Held, Ranchers Call on Trump to Investigate Big Energy’s Big Fires in the Lonestar State
Today, as the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry held their confirmation hearing on President Donald J. Trump’s nominee for Secretary of the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins, a coalition of conservative agriculture organizations including the Institute for Legislative Analysis’ Center to Protect Ranchers, Farm and Ranch Loss Group, LLC, Competitive Markets Action, the Organization for Competitive Markets, Competitive Markets PAC, Founders PAC, called on the newly inaugurated Trump, and his Administration, to investigate the rampant fires in the Panhandle of Texas and across the State of California that have left farmers, ranchers, and animals in dire situations thanks to energy conglomerates like Xcel Energy – a Fortune 500 utility company operating across 8 states, who caused the fires in Texas. A similar occurrence contributed to the ongoing California fires and previous fires in Colorado. Rollins hails from the State of Texas and is a graduate of Texas A&M University.
USDA Cuts Away at Big Meat
Today, the Alabama Contract Poultry Growers Association, Organization for Competitive Markets, and Competitive Markets Action released the following statement in response to the USDA's announcement of a third finalized rule reform to the Stockyards and Packers Act. This rule seeks to stabilize poultry producer payments and adds transparency to contract extension requirements. The rule says that no more than 25% of a grower’s total compensation can be based on the tournament system and that poultry producers cannot have their base pay reduced by where they place in the tournament system. Furthermore, the rule requires that producers are provided with “key information” on the nature and extent of capital investments that a company would require a contract grower to make to extend a contract.
